Harry Redknapp has denied reports that he has made a bid to bring Yakubu back to Portsmouth.
The Middlesbrough striker has been linked with a host of clubs including Birmingham City, and although Redknapp is still a fan of the powerful Nigerian, he has not made an approach.
“I like Yak, I signed him the first time round at Portsmouth and he was a good player for me,” Redknapp told Sky Sports News.
Portsmouth defender Sol Campbell has dropped a hint that he will not see his career out with Pompey.
The 32-year-old has twelve months left on his deal at Fratton Park and La Liga outfit Villarreal are keen on signing the former Arsenal stopper.
Campbell said: “I don’t think Portsmouth will be my last club.”
Portsmouth boss Harry Redknapp is confident that Kanu will finally put pen to paper on a new contract next week.

“I think there has been some irresponsible buying and spending by some clubs, and it makes it a bit more difficult if you’ve got less money to spend than that,” Moyes told the club’s official website.

Utaka, a Cameroon international striker has joined Portsmouth from French outfit Rennes for an undisclosed fee, along with David Nugent who has joined for a fee thought to be in the region of £6million from Preston North End.
